2023-2024 BASKETBALL Season

WCYAA Basketball is moving forward with plans for the 2023 and 2024 season.

We do not yet know what COVID requirements the renters of the gyms we rent for our basketball program will impose on us to rent their gyms. Masks seemed to be the default requirement in the past before vaccines for children were available.

COVID vaccinations for children are currently available. Children 12 and under make up essentially all of our program population and we suggest parents consider consulting with their child’s healthcare provider to make an informed decision on getting their child fully vaccinated prior to the season beginning in November.

WCYAA has provided youth basketball programs since 1957 and we are excited to contnue our service to the children of our community and their families.

Please stay safe!

“COACH CORNER” PAGE ADDED

We have just added “Coach Corner” as a new page on our website. This page will give our coaches forms and information to help our coaches get what they need to move forward.

There is an important section on the NAYS certification requirement for all of our head coaches. We also welcome the designated assistant coach to take the same courses with the same reimbursement as we give our head coaches.

It is important that we get the NAYS training done along with the California mandated Concussion Training as soon as possible after coaches have been accepted as coaches in our program.

We have provided a step by step set of instructions on how to complete the requirements.

We have also included various forms, including Coach Application form, Basketball rules and a Coach Information and Checklist as well as Parents Code of Ethics.

PLEASE PASS THE WORD

We are looking forward to this upcoming season. We have added an FAQ page at our website which we hope will answer the majority of questions about our program but please feel free to email us at wcyaa sports@yahoo.com.
